Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM)

Topic A: Addressing Statelessness in Protracted Conflict Zones

Prolonged conflicts have created generations of individuals lacking formal citizenship, limiting access to healthcare, education, and political representation. Delegates will analyze the role of international organizations in preventing intergenerational statelessness while balancing national sovereignty concerns. The committee will also consider how identity documentation systems and refugee resettlement frameworks might be modernized to address long-term displacement.

Topic B: Combatting the Global Rise of Online Radicalization and Youth Extremism

Digital platforms have enabled extremist organizations to recruit, radicalize, and mobilize young populations across national borders. Delegates will evaluate international strategies for countering online radicalization while protecting freedom of expression and preventing discriminatory surveillance practices. The discussion will also examine the role of education, economic opportunity, and social integration in preventing youth radicalization.
