Roshni Aneja

Co-Chair, DISEC

Dear Delegates,

Welcome to UPMUNC 58 and the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) at UPMUNC! My name is Roshni Aneja, and I am thrilled to serve as your Co-Chair for this committee. I look forward to an exciting weekend of debate, diplomacy, and collaboration as we tackle some of the most pressing issues surrounding international peace and security.

DISEC, often recognized as the “First Committee” of the United Nations General Assembly, plays a crucial role in maintaining global stability. The committee’s mandate covers a wide range of topics, from arms control and disarmament to the prevention of nuclear proliferation and the mitigation of emerging security threats. DISEC operates in close coordination with the UN Security Council and other specialized bodies, ensuring that the principles of the UN Charter guide every discussion.

To tell you more about myself: I’m currently a junior in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences studying Artificial Intelligence. I am very proudly born and raised in Edison, New Jersey (best state) with a year in between spent in Mississippi. Although I have never participated in MUN in high school, I have staffed UPMUNC the past two years and am looking forward to chairing a committee this year! Outside of the IAA, I am also the director of the IAA’s Community, Outreach, and Engagement branch, construct and build sets for Bloomers (one of Penn’s comedy troupes), a preorientation program leader, and am involved in Greek Life on campus! I also love to hike, go to workout classes, and walk along the Schuylkill River.

JJ and I are looking forward to working alongside all of you. Please feel free to reach out to either of us if you have any questions.
