Dear Delegates,

I am super excited to welcome you to UPMUNC LV. My name is Alicia Xiong, and I will be serving as your Chair for the District 13 War Council Committee. Achint and I have had a great time working on the committee for the past several months and we cannot wait to share it with all of you! Before we get into the committee, I would like to take the opportunity to tell you all a little bit more about myself.

I am currently a sophomore studying in the University of Pennsylvania’s Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business, with a target in Russian and East European Studies. I am originally from New Hope, PA (which is just outside of Philly), but now I live in New York City. Before coming to Penn, I was involved in my high school’s Model UN team and secretariat, so I am super happy that I can continue doing Model UN at Penn. On campus, I am involved in Wharton Undergraduate Energy Group, Wharton Undergraduate Consulting Club, and Kite and Key, the volunteer tour guide organization on campus.

Despite my other commitments on campus, I have found so many of my best friends through Intercol, the competitive Model UN team on campus. Because of them, I have staffed and competed in numerous conferences.

Last year was my first year at UPMUNC, and I loved every minute of it! I am looking forward to being back and having the opportunity to spend a weekend with all of you in the District 13 War Council Committee. The Secretariat has worked countless hours to ensure that this conference will run smoothly and be fruitful. I hope that you all gain so much from this weekend, both inside the committee and outside within Philadelphia and with your peers. Enjoy UPMUNC LV! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out whenever!

Best,

Alicia Xiong
