TOPIC A: Preventative Measures for Pandemic-Level Crises

In 2019, the world was rocked by a massive, global pandemic. Arguably, the group most impacted by this pandemic was healthcare workers and the healthcare system as a whole, which was largely unprepared for a crisis of this proportion. How can we best prepare healthcare workers and support systems for them in the event of another global instability? And, how can we develop appropriate research and funding for preparation of a pandemic-level crisis?

TOPIC B: Neglected Tropical Diseases

Although considerable progress has been made toward eliminating the spread of neglected tropical diseases, they still remain prominent and deadly forms of sickness that have meaningful impacts across the world. Because these diseases tend to target individuals already entrenched in a vicious cycle of disease and poverty, and because of the way that climate change tends to increase the spread of such illnesses, addressing neglected tropical diseases is incredibly important. What are the ideas to increase research regarding neglected tropical diseases, find appropriate funding for the matter, and consider appropriate infrastructural development and implementation plans to reduce the spread of disease?
