Welcome to the University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference, now in its forty-second year! My name is Aditi Marisetti and I am the Under-Secretary-General for the Economic and Social Council, as well as the Specialized committees, for UPMUNC XLII.

The entire secretariat has been working tirelessly to ensure that this UPMUNC is the best yet. This year, we have made some interesting additions to our ECOSOC and Specialized committees, including the UN Office of Drugs and Crime, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and the International Court of Justice.

Of course we also have our traditional Commission on Human Rights and UN Development Program committees. Each of these committees will challenge and stimulate you, while providing an enjoyable forum for diplomacy and learning.

A little about myself: I am a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences, looking to major in International Relations. My hometown is Toronto, Canada, and yes, I do love hockey. I have been an active member of Penn’s Model UN club since my Freshman year, and served as an Assistant Secretary-General at UPMUNC XLI.

Throughout the conference, I will be running in and out of your committees, making announcements, and ensuring that your experience at UPMUNC is as enjoyable as possible.
