Letter from the Secretary-General
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is my absolute pleasure to invite you to the forty-fourth session of the University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference (UPMUNC). UPMUNC is a four day conference that will be hosted from November 11th through November 14th of this year.
There are hundreds of Model United Nations Conferences in the world, so you might ask: Why UPMUNC? The answer is very simple: because we bring the world to you. This past year, we had over 1,300 delegates from more than 80 of the top universities in America and abroad. Despite the sheer magnitude of the conference, we have been able to maintain a high standard of quality among committees, social events, and international affairs, thanks to our 300+ staff members, 13 person secretariat, and speakers.
UPMUNC strives to tackle issues that are not only stimulating and controversial, but are also relevant to the international climate today. This year, we will be offering committees such as a Historical General Assembly, the Union of the Mediterranean, Weimar Germany, the popular West Wing show, and the UN Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN SPIDER). This unique mix of committee topics, sizes, and procedure really set UPMUNC apart from its colleague conferences.
Debating won't be the only thing that you'll do over the weekend. UPMUNC is located in the heart of Philadelphia, at the Sheraton of Center City. For the past 44 years delegates have come to Philadelphia to enjoy the magnificent historic sights of the city. Every year, we host extremely successful social events at some of Philadelphia's hottest clubs, and plan to continue doing so in 2010. This year, we are also planning a career fair to bring the best opportunities to you.
When I think of UPMUNC, I think of passionate debate, thrilling nights, and a magnitude of delegates. There is really something for everyone, whether you have never done MUN before or are a seasoned veteran. It is my job to make sure that this weekend lives up to your expectations.
Feel free to contact me with any questions, or visit www.upmunc.org.
I cannot wait to see you all in November.

Letter from the Director-General
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
I am honored and absolutely thrilled to serve as Director-General of UPMUNC 2010, the latest production in a long (44 years running) series of world class conferences, bringing together intense debate, lasting friendships, and a total of nearly 1,500 delegates and staffers sharing the same thinly-veiled desire to impart change on the world.
UPMUNC 2010 is well on track to becoming the largest and greatest yet. Work is under way, and this year's talented secretariat is busy putting together a creative mix of committees, daily special events, and an exceptional speaker to lead our opening ceremonies - all with the goal of making this conference the most memorable one of your collegiate career.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at upmunc@upmunc.org with any questions, and I look forward to personally welcoming each of you to Philadelphia come November!

Letter from the Chief of Staff
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is my pleasure and privilege to serve as Chief-of-Staff for UPMUNC XLIV, and to invite you to this prestigious conference.
Work for this UPMUNC started straight after the end of the previous UPMUNC, and the secretariat has been making giant steps toward building an impeccable UPMUNC experience. The Chief-of-Staff is in charge of working with the Under-Secretary Generals to ensure that each Chair, Vice-Chair, Crisis Director, and staff member is matched to the committee that best suits the individual. With this precise and detailed method, we can guarantee that our staff's energy is fully infused into the committee and the conference as a whole. I am so excited to work with the staff in the months leading up to UPMUNC, and I look forward to meeting all of you in November!
