Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the forty-second session of the University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference, to be held from November 13th through November 16th, 2008. My name is Jay Raghavan, and I am proud to be your Secretary-General.

UPMUNC has been a regular, popular stop in our great Model UN circuit, for reasons that will be very apparent in 2008. Attracting over 1,000 delegates from all of the top teams from the United States and around the world, UPMUNC has been known for its high quality of debate and diverse committee offerings. With over two hundred trained staff members with various academic backgrounds, including political science, management, and bioengineering, our staff brings a wide range of expertise, and a common passion for solving many of the world's problems.

Of course, your time at UPMUNC will not just be limited to committees. Located in the center of historic Philadelphia, UPMUNC gives you the opportunity to visit sights such as Independence Hall or the Liberty Bell, enjoy fantastic dining from Philly cheesesteak to all sorts of international cuisines, as well as to experience Philadelphia's happening nightlife, which again in 2008 is guaranteed to be punctuated by our DelegateFest!

This year, we plan to host a Model UN training session for all those attending a conference for the first time. Overseen personally by myself, seasoned experts from our successful traveling team will make sure that this session gives novices the tools necessary to jump into impassioned debate!

More information about UPMUNC can be found in our comprehensive brochure and website. If you have absolutely any questions at all, please feel free to contact me. On behalf of the entire secretariat, I look forward to seeing you this November!
