Welcome to the Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary General at UPMUNC 52! My name is Amanda Warren and I couldn’t be more excited to be your Chair for a committee unlike any you’ve experienced before. A bit about me: I’m a junior studying Finance and Management at the Wharton School. I grew up in Santa Barbara, California, but currently reside in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Besides being your chair for UPMUNC, I also serve as Chief of Staff of Penn’s competitive Model UN team, Intercol. When I’m not doing Intercol-related things, you can find me studying anywhere with a lot of natural light, running on the Schuylkill River trail, or trying/failing to teach myself how to cook. Back to the topic at hand, I truly cannot wait to chair this year’s Ad Hoc alongside your insanely talented Crisis Director, Shravan Balaji. Shravan and I have a lot of experience working together on Intercol’s executive board, so we are really looking forward to running this committee together. While I won’t say anything that might give away this year’s Ad Hoc topic, I will tell you that its something that Shravan and I are both extremely passionate about, and we truly cannot wait to see what you all do with it. Please feel free to reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions about the committee/life/anything. See you in November!
Sincerely, Amanda Warren
Along with my chair Amanda Warren, I could not be more excited to crisis direct this committee. Having done a variety of ad-hocs on the collegiate circuit, I look forward to sharing my own experience as a CD here. With emphasis on substance and creativity, we hope to give you a unique experience at this unique UPMUNC 52. Now, let me tell you a bit about myself. I’m currently a sophomore in the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business studying at both Wharton and the College with a minor in Spanish. Born in Flushing, Queens, I still consider myself at least partially a New Yorker despite spending the last 17 years in East Brunswick, New Jersey, where I’ve been involved in Model UN and international relations related activities since my freshman year of high school. I’m also a huge sports fan (Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Rangers). This will be my fourth UPMUNC having served as an ASG in 2015, CD of Designated Survivor in 2016, and CD of Art of the Deals in 2017. At Penn, I’m still heavily involved in Model UN by not only serving as a CD, but also competing on Intercol, Penn’s travel MUN team. This committee will challenge you beyond your boundaries, in an extremely unique perspective. We aim to make sure you have a fantastic Model UN experience at UPMUNC. Should you have any questions, feel free to email me at email@example.com.
Sincerely, Shravan Balaji
The Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary General is tailored towards experienced delegates and aims to provide an exciting and unique experience. The committee’s topics and subject will be kept secret until the first day of conference upon which time the background guide will be released. Delegates must be creative and think quickly to structure their debate strategy. Each delegate’s crisis skills will be tested throughout the span of the weekend at a high caliber level of debate. We hope for this committee to be simultaneously one of the most challenging yet interesting crisis experiences the circuit has to offer.
If you have any questions about this committee, feel free to reach out to your Under-Secretary General Arjun Patel at firstname.lastname@example.org
The background guide for the Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary General will be available closer to conference.
