General Assembly
Dear Delegates of the General Assembly,It is my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to the forty-third session of the University of Pennsylvania Model United Nations Conference. My name is Tiffany Chin, and I am serving as the Under Secretary General of the General Assembly for UPMUNC XLIII. Over the last year, the UPMUNC secretariat and staff have been working tirelessly to bring you the best possible Model United Nations conference, and we are sure that you will enjoy your weekend here in Philadelphia. UPMUNC is committed to running outstanding and thought-provoking committees, and this year will be no different.
I am currently a junior studying at the Wharton School here at the University of Pennsylvania, and I am double concentrating in Management and Marketing with a minor in Music. As with most MUN aficionados, I have an international background; I spent the first half of my life growing up in Chicago, and the latter half living in the beautiful city of Beijing, China. I have been involved in Model UN since my freshman year in high school, debating, chairing and running such conferences as The Hague Model United Nations and Beijing Model United Nations. During my freshman year I served as an Assistant Secretary-General for ILMUNC, our high school conference, and this year I am proud to serve as UPMUNC's USG GA. Other than Model UN, I enjoy playing the keyboard and clarinet, composing music, and being involved in my sorority Chi Omega.
This year, the General Assembly is addressing topical and urgent issues from a Nuclear Weapons Free Zone in the Middle East, to the pressing health problem of drug resistance diseases. I like to believe that because of the sheer size of the General Assembly, the best ideas are developed and evolved to produce viable and applicable solutions. I cannot wait to see what happens this weekend - get excited!
Cheers,
Tiffany Chin
Under Secretary-General, General Assembly
