Crisis Committees
Dear Delegates,Welcome to the forty-third session of UPMUNC! My name is Roashan Ayene, and I am one of the Under-Secretaries-General for Crisis Committees. For the past year, hundreds of members of the International Affairs Association at the University of Pennsylvania have worked hard to make sure that the conference is an enjoyable experience for all involved. To that end, we have plenty of surprises in store for you.
I am currently a sophomore coming from a suburb outside of Philadelphia. I intend to dual degree in The College of Arts and Sciences and The School of Engineering and eventually attend medical school. Although my high school did not have Model UN, I have come to love it. In addition to being a USG for UPMUNC, I am a Deputy Director of Intercol, our intercollegiate travelling team. Outside of Model United Nations, I am a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, work in a laboratory, enjoy running, and love spending time with my friends.
Throughout the last year, I have worked with five teams of wonderful individuals to create some of the most exciting and diverse crisis committees possible. From imaginative, unpredictable crises in the modern world's trouble spots to crucial turning points in history, you will make decisions that will affect the lives of millions. I look forward to seeing you all in Philadelphia come November. Until then, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Best of luck in your preparations and at the conference!
Yours,
Roashan Ayene

Dear Delegates,It is my pleasure to welcome you to the forty-third session of The University of Pennsylvania MUN conference. For the last one year we have been working endlessly to make sure you, the delegates, have an amazing experience.
I am Shubhi Nigam, a sophomore studying Computer Science and Economics here at Penn. I've been involved in Model UN for four years and after serving as Assistant Secretary General at UPMUNC 2008, I knew I wanted to remain a part of this amazing conference. This year I am honored to serve as your Under Secretary General of Crisis. In addition to UPMUNC I am also involved in the Penn Preceptorial committee, the Society of Women in Engineering and the Wharton India Economic Forum. And when I'm not running around attending their meetings I'll probably be found watching hulu, napping or planning exotic vacations with my friends.
This year we have some amazing committees from the Mafia wars of the 1920s to the Iranian Council of Ministers. I have personally seen the chairs and staff working tirelessly to create thrilling crises to make sure your experience at UPMUNC 2009 is memorable. At that note, please feel free to approach me with any problems before the conference or during the conference.
